What's in a Name...

Naming your children is kind of like planning your wedding. It's something that you always think about and plan from when you are a little girl. The part that you don't plan on is your partner not liking half of the names you pick out or any of the names for that matter. Girl names were never challenging for us but boy names were another story. Girl name all sound so pretty but boy names are tough; I think because you want it to be masculine, not too trendy, and to fit with your last name. These are the names we have decided on for our twins, although it was a hard decision to choose between Caroline and Hadley. 

Hudson Michael & Hadley Rose 

Hudson has a few meanings: 'Son of the Hooded Man' or 'One who is from the River' or 'Hugh's Son' and is of English origin, but we chose it because it reminds us of NYC. Michael is after my Dad and is also Brian's middle name.

Hadley means: 'Field of Heather' and is of English origin, but we chose it because it reminds us of KY. Rose is from my side of the family and has become a tradition that most of the 1st born girls have Rose in their name and it is also my middle name.

NYC & Louisville are both our homes and wherever 

we end up both cities will always be a big part of our life together.

Beach Vacation

This past week Brian and I headed down to Santa Rosa Beach, right outside of Destin, for a wonderful week filled with family, friends, beach time, delicious food, and a wedding. I think this was our last real vacation without babies for a long time. My friend, Tiffany, that I have known since middle school got married on Friday down there. We made a week vacation out of the event and stayed in a condo with my parents, Megan's family, and our friend Debbie. We were blessed with gorgeous weather the entire week. One of the highlights was a cute little boy named Jude. I haven't been able to spend this much time getting to know him because we live so far away. He is the funniest, sweetest, handsome little guy who taught us the best new saying, "Oh Yeah Bootie." We took several pictures so I'm just going to do long picture posts for a few days. 

Two Pregnant Ladies or better known as the DDs for the week. Megan and I are only one week apart which is really cool considering we have known each other since 6th grade and lived together for almost 6 years so it's only fitting we do this together too.

September 2012 Recap

There were lots of events that I didn't blog about in September so here is a quick recap of what we did last month. At the beginning of September we went to the Madonna concert in Yankee Stadium. It was awesome and I was a concert I always wanted to go to. She played for a long time and I think the concert lasted until midnight but the weather was perfect. 

We were also able to make it to Maryland for a weekend of R&R. Not Many pictures here just cute little Foster down by the water. 

He doesn't like little sticks as you can see here he prefers the biggest one he can find.

I turned 29 towards the end of the month and Brian surprised me with reservations at a restaurant I had been wanting to eat at for a year or so. It's called Blue Hill and everything is "farm to table" it was so delicious. 

Testing out our new camera we got earlier in the week since our old small point and shoot was in my purse this summer when it was stolen. 

One Friday night we planned to meet at CPK after work but when we got there we discovered it had closed. Good thing Serendipity was three doors down; it was a such a nice dinner and of course we had to have a frozen hot chocolate for desert.

Ultrasound Pictures

I have lots of ultrasound pictures because I am in a research study at Columbia. For all their research patients they do 3D ultrasounds every time and they save all the images on disks for me. I think the #D pictures are a little weird looking but they said its because they are still very skeletal and don't have much flesh on their bodies yet. The study is trying to set growth standards for twin pregnancies. Currently they only have standards for singleton pregnancies and they just try to compare twin growth rates to that but they don't actually have a set of separate numbers to go by for twins. I thought I'd post a few of the better images.

16 Weeks

I'm just now getting around to posting my 16 week pic because I had a very busy weekend. Since Brian is away his Mom came to stay with me and we were busy bees. Here is a list of a few of the things we did: drs. apt, High Line, shopping for baby stuff, yarn, clothes etc, registered at PBK, made a scrapbook, made a mermaid costume, made invitations and a banner, cooked a pot of homemade sauce and meatballs, went out to eat, did a tea tasting, and I'm sure I'm forgeting something. It was very productive and such a fun time. Thank You Pat!

How far along: 16weeks 2 days

Total Weight Gain: 6 lbs, same as last week my bump is getting bigger but my legs, face, and arms are getting much slimmer

Maternity Clothes: Half regular and half maternity

Stretch Marks: no

Sleep: really well but I got back my “night owlness” so I have to make myself go to bed

Best Moment of the week: Our ultrasound on Friday! Both babies looked healthy. Baby A is 5oz and Baby B is 4oz.

Movement: none

Food Cravings: Nothing in particular  

Symptoms: Barely nauseous but I have dry mouth a lot and I get tired more easily, also going up steps is like running a mile

Wedding Rings on or off: on

Looking Forward to: Brian’s return from his two week long Medical Mission Trip

Gender: It’s Official Baby A is a boy & Baby B is a girl
