I asked Brian what I should title this entry and this is what he said. That is why I write the blogs :). On Saturday we took advantage of the beautiful weather and our close proximity to several beaches and decided to have a beach day. I can't believe we live this close to the beach, it took about an hour, and this is the first time we have gone. It was a really fun day except for the break we took in the middle to go watch the disappointing loss by team USA. I'm sure we will be returning soon.

Columbia's Graduation Dinner

Last Friday night was the Columbia Graduation Dinner for the PGY5s. It was a really nice dinner held at a country club in New Jersey. The dinner was delicious and it's always fun to hang out with all the people Brian works with in a relaxed setting. Many awards and nice words were said about the fifth years who are leaving and I was thinking that I can't wait until Brian is a 5. After the dinner we headed to the roof of the Empire Hotel where some of the reps were hosting the after party. It was a great night.

Pier 6

Pier 6 is another wonderful reason that my friends with little ones should come to NYC for a visit. In Brooklyn they are finishing an area called Brooklyn Bridge Park and the park is a collection of piers along the East River. Each pier is going to have it's own unique attraction and they are all very modern hip parks with lots of nature incorporated. Pier 1 has been opened for a while and we go there quite a bit because it had an amazing view of the water, downtown Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Pier 6 is a further walk but it's well worth it. The 1.6 acre playground has a swing valley, slide mountain, sandbox village, and a water lab sprinkler park. I wish I had playgrounds this cool when I was growing up. The slides are so big at slide mountain even I was going down them. It was so big we didn't even have time to check out the swing valley. Can't wait to spend many more hot summer days there.

Lion King Weekend

This weekend we were celebrating the end of Brian's second year of residency and starting Monday he will be a third year. Yeah! Also we had Brian's mom and aunt come for a visit on Saturday. Saturday was a busy day. We started off by going to MOMA and then to the Met. After we hit the museum circuit we stopped at a pub to watch the USA's first World Cup game to England. The game was a draw but it's better than a loss. After we rested up and freshened up at home we went to see the Lion King. The Lion King was awesome, the music was so good and I loved how they made all the costumes for the animals. I highly recommend this musical to anyone left who hasn't seen it. It's tied for second favorite musical in my book after Wicked of course. Thank you for taking us Mom & Aunt Sandy. When we were walking home after the show we stumbled across a bar with live music and the fun continued. The musician played almost any song we requested and he would invite people up to sing with him. Brian got up and sang Ants Marching and he decided he might take some time off to pursue American Idol next season, only kidding. He did a really good job though and it was a great way to end a wonderful day.

Pretty Pillow

I have been so busy that I haven't had much time to begin any new sewing projects. Since today is rainy I decided to make this cute pillow for my Mom's new house. She is doing the guest bedroom in black & white so I thought this would be a cute throw pillow. I just used a bunch of scraps I had and I think it turned out so cute.

Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale

On Friday there was a Lilly warehouse sale in Philly close to where Brian's Grandma lives. I just happened to have a half day on Friday so I took the train in and Brian's mom picked me up to go to the Lilly sale. I thought it would be all picked over because it was the third day of the sale but it was still stocked up with hundreds of Lilly dresses. I had a lot of fun and got some cute stuff. I can't wait till the next one in November maybe I'll make sure to make it to the first day of the sale in the fall.

Dinner With Matt

Yesterday our good friend Matt came to New York for work. We were lucky to get to meet up with him to have dinner. Since his trip was so short notice we missed Nikki but hopefully she will get to come next time. We used to get to have dinner with Matt about twice a week and now we are lucky if we get to have dinner with him twice a year so this was a nice treat.
