Beach Bonfire

This weekend we went to a beach where you can have bonfires to celebrate all of our friend's August birthdays because there are so many of them. Early in the day we took the babies with us and it was one of the first times they actually enjoyed being in the ergos, I think it is because they are finally big enough to be comfortable in them. Around 6pm we headed home and did out nighttime routine, put the babies to bed, and had our first non family member babysitter. We did get her name from someone we know and because it's such a small word we found out she is actually from Louisville and most of her family lives around the Ballard High School area, I thought that was crazy. She is so sweet and the babies behaved well for her, and we went back to the beach bonfire for a nice night with good company and a cool setting on the beach. We took a few pictures right when we got there but that was it, I realized we didn't even get a picture of the fire, oh well.

Tummy Time

Hadley and Hudson are little rolly pollies these days. However they do have a few challenges. The used to be able to roll from their fronts to back every time we put them down for tummy time so we just stopped putting them on their tummy because they roll back in one second. Now they roll onto their tummy from their back every time and it's like they have a mental block because they forgot how to roll back onto their backs and then Hudson usually gets very upset but Hadley doesn't mind being stuck so much.

Stroll'n

These babies love to stroll. At night we usually go for a long walk because if not they can be fussy between 6 & 7 but if we are walking outside they love it. Here are a few stroller pics over the past month.

Pool Days

The weather in California is really always 75 and sunny although because we live so close to the ocean there is a marine layer fog that doesn't usually burn off till around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Our friends Bob and Kristine live further from the beach and closer to downtown Hollywood so it is about 10 to 15 degrees warmer there even though they are only 10 miles away. So last weekend we headed to their place for a day by the pool.

Starting Solids

When they turned 5 months we started to give them their first solids. We started with rice cereal and they really didn't like it but we continued it for about a week. Everyday they made horrible faces and spit it out so I tried oatmeal and they liked that much better. Now they eat two full meals day, breakfast and dinner. I have made all of their baby food except the oatmeal and prunes and they love it all. So far I think their favorite is green beans. It is so easy to make and I can make about 25-30 servings for what 4 jars of food would cost. So far they have had oatmeal, avocado, green beans, sweet potatoes, and prunes. Next I think we will try pears or apples. I take lots of meal time photos because there is just something so cute about a messy food baby face.
