Derby Vacation: Everything Else

Besides going to Oaks and Derby while we were in Louisville we were very busy going around town visiting all of our friends and hanging out with our family. Here are the rest of the highlights from our week. Thanks to our family and friends for such a great week.

We were so happy to finally meet precious Jude

He was so good but he kept giving me very serious looks maybe he was trying to figure out who we were. I wish I could spend more time with this little guy.

This is my parents new house that is under construction. The owner of the development is also the owner of Super Saver so that's why my parent won big on Derby. I can't wait to see the finished house.

Catching up with old friends is what makes me miss Louisville the most, it's really hard to meet new friends when your 26/27 in a new city. We had a great meal with the Dursts and Fowlers at Mojitos.

One day we decided to go down to the river and have lunch at the chow wagon because the weather was so nice. We ended up at Joe's Crab Shack instead because we wanted to sit down and be waited on. Thanks Mom for taking us to lunch.

Breakfast at the Dursts, thanks for the donuts Whitney. I think Madalyn liked them more than anyone especially the one with sprinkles.

Caleb is getting so big and he is such a good boy. He was showing off all of his letter skills.

I'm not sure if we look that comfortable holding children yet Brian would probably be better suited with or beer or scalpel.

Thursday night was a busy one. First we stopped by Waller's gallery show. His paintings are really amazing. It was a really nice even and I was able to see Jude and Megan again.

After the art show we went to the Taste of Derby. This is our pic from the red carpet. This event was amazing. Brian's parents gave us their tickets because they had other plans that night. There were chefs representing all the race tracks from around the country and the food was delicious.

Derby Vacation: Derby Day

Derby Day was a lot of fun even though it rained all day :( Sara and Ryan invited us to join them in their box, and we were lucky it was under cover. From the minute we rolled into Sara and Ryan's driveway we knew the day would be fun when we saw the small bus, not to be confused with a short bus. Ryan drove the small bus and it's 17 passengers to the track and it was an interesting ride in. People were jumping out to move cones, dancing in the isle, etc... but the best part was that we valet parked the bus. The Derby was a good time but we still didn't hit the jackpot on any of our bets, oh well. The ride home, well once they found our bus because it was lost for a while, was a repeat of the ride in with the addition of now the majority of the passengers were a bit intoxicated. So dancing turned to flipping in the isles (job security for Brian.) Thanks Sara and Ryan for a wonderful day can't wait to see you again soon.

Derby Vacation: Oaks Day

Last week we had a wonderful time going home to Louisville for a visit and the Kentucky Derby. I have lots of pictures and stories to post so I'm going to just do a few days at a time. First I will start with Oaks Day. We had an awesome time with friends and family. Oaks was the most beautiful day of the week. On Oaks day we all sported our pink to support breast cancer and the parade of survivors down the track before the Oaks race was awesome. The morning started out with a home cooked breakfast at the Scott's residence. Brian made everyone yummy pancakes and bacon and Elizabeth was a wonderful hostess. Then, after our bellies were nice and full, we all loaded into Brian's big truck and headed to the track. We didn't have much luck with our bets but it was still a fun time. After the races we headed to a hip mexican restaurant on Frankfort Ave. for a few margaritas to finish off the night. By the time we got home we were exhausted but no sleeping in because we were getting up to do it all over again with another set of friends and family for Derby Day.

Vacation

Yes we are going on vacation again. Louisville & Derby here we come!

Aunt & Uncle Visit

Two weekends ago my Aunt Marianne and Uncle Tommy came in town to visit. We had such a fun time especially since Tommy had never been to New York. He was so funny buying up all the street vendor items. For example he bought about 10 I Love NY shirts. On Friday night we went to a great comedy club and laughed till our tummies hurt. There are so many great comedians in New York that every night is a great show even if its not a major celeb. We had one person from the Chappelle Show and one from 30 Rock. We are defiantly going back. It was also nice to hang out with Elaina because she is so cute and getting so big now. We took her to the American Girl Doll store because Marianne, her Meme, was going to get her one and she was a riot in the store. Little kids know what they want and are so sure of it. I can't wait for them to come back and visit again.

More Vacation Pictures

It has taken me a while to recoup from vacation and get back into the swing of things. I just now downloaded the rest of our vacation photos to the computer. The only thing I didn't take pictures of was the amazing day when Pat and I went to the natural hot springs and she treated us to spa treatments. If you have never had a salt scrub on your entire body I highly recommend it.

6:00 am but we did hit the casinos one last time
