Our First Trip to Louisville in May

When the babies were just shy of two months old we went to Louisville for two weeks. They experienced lots of firsts on this trip. Pat, aka Grandmom, flew with us on their first airplane ride from Baltimore to Louisville while daddy drove. They were so good on the airplane and hardly made a peep. We looked at this as a trial run for our much longer airplane ride to L.A. It was also their first time meeting most of their extended family and friends, getting baptized into the Catholic church, and their first Oaks and Derby weekend parties but definitely not the last. This post has a lot of pictures because I probably could have written several posts but I just put it all in one because I just have no time these days :)

Mommy had some fun too and went to a Taylor Swift Concert while Grandmom babysat. It was one of the first times I really went out without the babies and we had such a fun time!

Another first but this one was for me it was my first Mother's Day. I am so lucky to be a Mom to these two sweet beautiful babies. Everybody tells you how you never knew you could love someone so much and once I experienced being a Mom I knew just what they were talking about.

Pat and I took two days to drive back to Maryland and this was their first night in a hotel.

Hospital Life

I am going to post a bunch of entries that I have written over the past 5 months about life as a new mom and all the new things with the twins but wasn't able to publish because of our Internet access.

Believe it or not I really liked being in the hospital. I thought it was great with the exception of one day when I had a lazy nurse. I liked being waited on, having my food brought to me, never having to clean up, having free baby supplies, always having help with the babies, lying around in bed all day, and the list goes on. Brian on the other hand felt like he never left work for a whole week and was so ready to go home and sleep in his own bed. He said the fold out chair felt like sleeping on a gym floor mat. On the 5th day we were there I was discharged around noon but didn't actually leave until 5:30pm and Pat was like are we ever going home. I just wanted to milk it for as long as I could because I knew once I got home the to do list would be never ending.  One thing that was a tremendous help and made my time more enjoyable was that Lindsey came every morning around 6am to help me for the day when Brian left for work. If I didn't have help I would not have been able to always keep the babies in the room because for the first 24 hours I wasn't even allowed to get out of bed. I'm not sure Lindsey thought she would change so many poopy diapers on her spring break but I'm so glad she did. I didn't even change their diaper for the first time until they were 4 days old because I had so much help but it was also really hard to bend over because of the c-section. Since pregnancy was not that enjoyable for me I was glad that the hospital experience was. That is probably the only part I am looking forward to again if or when we have another baby.

Settling In

We arrived in California exactly one week ago and are slowly settling in. We just got Internet service today, hence the blog post, but we are patiently waiting for our furniture. The good news is that it has arrived in CA, but the bad news is it could be another 3-6 days before we get it because it's loaded on a big truck with lots of other people's furniture. The babies have adjusted to the time change and they were so well behaved on the long flight :) Brian starts work on Thursday and we will just be spending the next few weeks unpacking and figuring stuff out around here. Update

I have been writing blog posts the entire time we have been living in Maryland but I have yet to post anything because it takes a whole day or longer to upload about 5 pictures and honestly I do not have that kind of time. We are so busy with babies and next week is Brian's graduation from residency and we are taking a mini vacation to the Hamptons then coming to Louisville for three weeks then we move out to LA. When we move to LA I plan to post a blog or two a day to get all caught up. Here is a recent picture of our family and the babies.
