Key West

I still haven't posted about the second part of our vacation in Key West. Key West was a lot of fun and we ate at some really great restaurants, had fun sailing, shopping, and hanging by the pool.

TGF...

Thank Goodness For Kate Spade. The weather is starting to feel a little more like winter around here and was in the 30s and 40s yesterday and today. I decided it was time to pull out more serious layers like scarfs, hats, and gloves but all my gloves were ratty or missing a mate. So I decided it was time for a new pair and I had remembered Kate Spade had really cute mittens last year. The mittens this year are just as cute and I love my new mittens.

Anthropologie has really cute gloves too if you aren't into mittens

Thank Goodness For Amazing Nail Polish and the Lippmann Collection. Anyone who knows me knows I have the shortest nailbeds and very brittle nails that do not grow. That is why I can really only tolerate my nails when they are freshly manicured. I was spending a lot of money getting manis and pedis and I realized it was a little out of hand. So recently I have been investing in good products that help me keep my nails and toes looking good without so many trips to the salon. If I'm doing my own I am willing to spend a little more on polish and a good manicure kit because it really does last longer and make your nails healthier. If you are into polish and haven't heard of Deborah Lippmann then listen up. Her polishes come in the best colors and they are thick and rich. Also they don't contain formaldehyde, toluene or dibutyl phthalate which are in most polishes and are not good for your body or nails. If you have ever wanted to know the secrets to giving yourself the best manicure including why you shouldn't get your cuticles cut watch this video on her website. www.deborahlippmann.com

My two recent colors I'm loving right now are:
Superstar (Currently Wearing :)
Between the Sheets
I'm hoping to get this one for the holidays

Destination Key West

Mid week we traveled from Islamorada to Key West. On our way we made a few pit stops to check interesting spots. The first stop was a beautiful beach in Marathon. When we arrived there was an animal conservation group releasing a big sea turtle off this dock.
I usually hate when Brian snaps photos like this but I didn't mind this one so much I was just enjoying the beautiful view.
The next stop was a famous pizza place called No Name Pizza located on No Name Key. People come from all over to eat at this place and it I can see why the pizza was delicious. The restaurant was covered in decorated dollar bills so we wanted to contribute to the decor with a little NYC flavor.

And last stop Key West and to our gorgeous resort. Ahh I love beach life.
One morning I was able to enjoy a very relaxing yoga class on this pier at our hotel.

Snorkling & Beach Time

The water in the Keys is really pretty and very calm and relaxing. At times it seemed like we were at the lake rather than the ocean. Brian wanted to do some snorkeling of his own so he bought a mask and snorkel as you will see.

Testing it out

I wanted to capture how cute he looked but he didn't want to be photographed

Islamorada

Islamorada was the first Key we spent time visiting. We spent most of our days laying by the beach or the pool and eating wonderful dinners out. Brian's dad fished several days and we would take his fresh catch to the restaurants and they would prepare it any style you like, can't get much fresher than that. One day Brian and his dad went backcountry fishing together and Pat and I had some spa time. Brian said it was a lot of fun and at one point they came upon a pack of dolphins swimming around their boat and splashing Bill. They caught lots of Ladyfish, a Snook, Mackerel, and Sea Trout on that day. Bill's goal is to catch different kids of fish on every trip he takes and he caught several new fish on this trip.
We stopped at Brian's Aunt's for lunch on our way to the hotel and
Bill caught this in the first hour of our trip

Our hotel had an Outback and almost every night we stopped by for a happy hour drink

TGF...

Thank Goodness for Vacation. Last week we were able to enjoy a very nice relaxing vacation with Brian's parents in the Florida Keys. It was really nice to squeeze in another week of warm weather and to spend time with Brian since he had been away for 9 weeks prior. Here are just a few pictures from our vacation many more still to come.
