Update

I have been writing blog posts the entire time we have been living in Maryland but I have yet to post anything because it takes a whole day or longer to upload about 5 pictures and honestly I do not have that kind of time. We are so busy with babies and next week is Brian's graduation from residency and we are taking a mini vacation to the Hamptons then coming to Louisville for three weeks then we move out to LA. When we move to LA I plan to post a blog or two a day to get all caught up. Here is a recent picture of our family and the babies.

Our Hoppy Easter

This Easter was Hudson and Hadley's first major holiday. We had a nice relaxing morning together of family time while checking out what the Easter bunny brought in their Easter baskets. We really enjoyed a normal day after all the moving madness that had occurred in the two days prior. Then we dressed them up in their Easter outfits I made them (they were a little big but still cute) and took them to their first mass. They were so well behaved in church and we are so blessed to have these two little miracles.

One Month Old

They turned one month yesterday and I haven't been able to find the time to do one blog post since the one after they were born.  I feel like all I do is feed babies, pump, eat, got to the bathroom, wash pump parts and start all over again. This weekend Brian and I are going to try to leave them for a few hours so we can finally get out and do something together. Grandmom (Brian's Mom) has been helping with them around the clock because during the week Brian is in the city since we moved out to Maryland. If it wasn't for all the help I think I would lose my mind. But I do love my babies and they are soooo sweet. They already have little personalities and are starting to fill out so their newborn clothes almost fit. Here are a few things about them at one month: (I haven't loaded pictures on the computer yet from my good camera so these are all just from my phone.)

Hudson
6lbs 2oz

He is very feisty and has spastic fits at least once a day.

His arms are his worst enemy, he is obsessed with having them up by his face and they get in the way during naps and feedings.

Looks so peaceful when he sleeps

Loves to be rocked.

Likes to be held over the shoulder so there is pressure on his tummy.

Is very gassy.

His whole body turns red when he crys and he has a birthmark on his forehead that turns red when he crys or pushes really hard. 

He is very strong.

Likes tummy time and can lift his had from one side to the other.

Loves his sound machine!

Hadley
6lbs 1oz

Very laid back and content most of the time.

Loves to be held and will do a fake cry that sounds like "naah" but when you pick her up she instantly stops.

She is very alert and loves to be talked to, she is especially drawn to men's voices.

Loves attention.

Likes to lay on her side.

Looks pretty in pink :)

Both

Are good sleepers and sleep 5 hours during the night.

Like being swaddled.

Poop and pee over 12x a day, we go through so many diapers.

Really like bath time.

Moving Meham

On top of only being home for 3 weeks with our newborn twins we are also moving out of our apartment tomorrow. This is the main reason I haven't been able to get around to blogging and I won't probably get caught up on posts until sometime in the next two weeks. Here are a few pictures of them for now.

My Birth Story

I already mentioned that there was no sleep to be had the night before my c-section so when I did get out of bed on Monday, March 4th at 4:45 am I did what most women would do when they are about to go in and have a baby, full hair and make-up. lol I knew there would be lots of pictures and I wasn't sleeping anyways so why not look good, right? We headed to the hospital at 6:00 am and my C-section started promptly at 8:30 am. The OR was a little creepy to me, all those machines and monitors and equipment, I don't see how Brian does it everyday. I had a spinal block which apparently is better than an epidural. It wasn't bad at all but it was really weird looking down at my legs and not being able to feel or move them. I was laying flat on my back and they had a drape in front of me so I wasn't able to see what was happening from my shoulders down. Brian was sitting on a stool right by my head and usually they make the fathers stay behind the drape, but since they new Brian worked there and he was a surgeon they let him watch. Even tough it was only about 20 mins from when they started to when Hudson was pulled out it seemed like an eternity. I had extra bleeding in my abdomen and lots of referred pain in my right shoulder. The pain in my shoulder was so bad that it was one of the worst pains I have ever experienced. I was also nauseous when they were pulling the babies out and trying to get my uterus to contract. So with all the pain in my shoulder and trying not to throw up, afterwards I felt like I wasn't able to be present in the moment of them being born and the doctor showing them to me for the first time. But those factors were out of my control. Once I was out of the OR and in recovery they brought them to us right away. I was shaking a lot from the anesthesia medicine so I had to wait about 10 minutes to hold them. Brian was able to hold them right away and then Grandma Pat came up and then Aunt Lindsey. Holding them for the first time was so amazing. I couldn't believe the overwhelming amount of love I felt for these two little people. I nursed them in the recovery room and then shortly after they took them away to the nursery to have them cleaned up. I thought I would be joining them soon in our hospital room but because I had high blood pressure, mild preclampsia, and extra bleeding in my abdomen they decided to keep me in recovery for a few hours to closely monitor me. Finally around 4:00 pm I was able to get into a room and see my babies again. I couldn't get out of bed for 24 hours because I had to go on a magnesium drip for the preclampsia, and the drip made me really hot and have burning eyes. Lindsey came to help everyday which was the best thing ever because once Brian left our room for work I couldn't have them both in our room unless someone else was there with me. We ended up staying 5 whole days in the hospital and Brian couldn't wait to get home. He said he felt like he never left work for a solid week, which was kind of true. I actually really loved being in the hospital because I  had so much help and I wasn't nervous about anything because I could press my little call button anytime of day. But it was nice to get home and sleep in our own bed. A lot happened in that first week of life in the hospital but I think this is enough detail for now.

I have many more details to come but we have only been home from the hospital for 6 days so we are still getting organized and settled in. 

37 weeks...

I made it to my due date and probably could have made it longer if it weren't for my cholestasis and in the last week I developed a mild case of preeclampsia, I will go into more about this later when I post about the full birth story. On Sunday March 3rd, the night before they were born, Lindsey, Pat and Bill came to stay with us and we had a relaxing night of lasagna and watched Sky Fall. Everyone went to bed that night except for me. I tried to sleep from midnight to 5am and I never went to sleep because I had so much adrenaline pumping through my body in anticipation of the twins being born. I went from 10 am Sunday morning and didn't sleep again until midnight or so on Monday night, so I was awake for about 38 hrs and only slightly grumpy :)
