New Residents

This weekend was Columbia's interviews for the new set of residents that will be joining Brian's program in July. Since the dinner is only for the residents and applicants the residents usually have a get together beforehand for the entire program including significant others. It was a really nice night and after the dinner was over I met back up with Brian and we all went out for a night of major dancing. Over Christmas break we were kind of made fun of (by Lindsey, Sara and Ryan) for not knowing the dougie dance or song and when it came on in the club this weekend none of the other people we were with had ever heard it either. But by now we had the dance down so we were pretty cool (aka really big dorks).

These are the other guys (minus Kevin since he was on call) that are 3s with Brian

A Visit from Stephen

Before I became sick on New Year's Eve we were able to have one or two fun days while Stephen was visiting. I already mention that my Flight back from Louisville was cancelled because of all the snow in New York. So thankfully Stephen had already planned to drive up to celebrate the new year in NYC so he thankfully allowed me to ride along. I must say I have never made it to New York quite so fast via car. I'm just glad I was able to sleep in the back seat.
Having a nice dinner at Colicchio & Sons
The Top Chef Restaurant
Afterwards we meet up with a family friend, Stevie, who also in the city for New Years

New Fave Beauty Product

Last year I discovered a new beauty product that I love so much I just had to share it with all of you. It's the NARS eyeshadow primer. Have you ever bought an eye color in the store that you thought would be an awesome color, especially MAC colors, but once you try it at home it just doesn't look quite as vibrant or it takes 20 applications to get it to come close to the same color. Well this product solves that issue, it really makes eyeshadows look how they are supposed to. Also before this product I would always have to do my eye makeup twice if I was going somewhere in the morning and then at night but not anymore. It makes your eyeshadow stay on all day. I told you it was a great product. It costs $24, but your eyeshadows will last longer and if you don't put it directly on your eye to avoid contamination (I roll it on the back of my hand and then use my finger to apply it to my eye lid) you only need a tiny bit, it should last 1-2 years. I'm sure other companies sell primers but I can only speak for this brand. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

My 2011 Book List

(I confess I stole this entry idea from another blog)
I did a lot of reading in 2010 and I wish I had kept a list because I can't remember everything I read. Some of my faves were: The Help, Jesus Land, Tori Spelling's Uncharted Territory (this is her third and all of her books are hilarious), and The Hunger Games Trilogy. In 2011 I am going to have a reading plan. I was really excited to get a Kindle for Christmas from my parents. At first when the e-readers came out I wasn't too sure if I would like one, but they are really great. Books are about a third of the price, you never lose your page, we don't have much room for book storage in our apartment so it solves that problem, and it makes reading on the go in the city, e.g. on the subway, so much easier. I plan to read one book a month and I'm really excited about my line up. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for great reads you would recommend or if you come across something really fab you just have to share this year.

January: Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls (In progress)
February: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
March: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
April: Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea by Chelsea Handler
May: The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson
June: The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest by Stieg Larsson
July: Little Bee by Chris Cleave
August: Room by Emma Donoghue
September: Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld
October: Radical by David Platt
November: Kite Runner by Kahled Hosseini
December: Perfection by Julie Metz

I'm sure I will pick up a few extra's along the way but I still have to leave time all of my horrible junk TV shows:)

Happy New Year

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's Eve and Day because I did not. It was the worst way to start off the year but I'm not going to let it set the tone for the year. I was so so so sick and I don't think I have ever been that sick in my entire life. I don't want to gross anyone out so with as few details as possible here is how my weekend went. On Friday night after taking a nap I thought I was getting up to get ready but no, I threw up and continued to do so for 7 hours then I was in bed for the next two and a half days eating nothing but broth and noodles. I was so bummed about not getting to go out and celebrate because I had a cute new skirt and we had to tickets to see Adrian Grenier's band play and Stephen was in town. Oh well there is always next year and I am grateful that I have good health and made a full recovery.

As for resolutions I did make a few: I'm going to try really hard to make it to church every week even if Brian is on call and can't go, I'm going to continue my workout progress and commit to going to the gym at least 4x a week, I'm going to get caught up ytd on my scrap book, and I am going to blog more. Since I was so sick last week I already missed out on my first two resolutions but that week is not counting in my book. As for the blog I have decided to write more entries about my opinions, crafting, cooking and all things I love because I love blogging but sometimes Brian and I surprisingly just don't have anything that interesting going on unlike those of you with children. Maybe now there won't be weeks between blog entries.

Happy New Year Everyone and I hope you all have a great year.

Holiday Trip to Louisville

Our trip home for Christmas was wonderful. We had so much fun seeing all of our family and friends and friends' babies and baby bumps. Gosh I think almost everyone I know is pregnant so I'm just sending out one big CONGRATULATIONS. That Louisville water sure is special. The week was the perfect mix of relaxation, socializing with friends and enjoying family time. Our Christmas Eve with Brian's side and Christmas with my side was very peaceful and drama free. We received very nice gifts from both of our parents and siblings so a BIG THANK YOU to them goes out. The only thing that didn't go as scheduled was my flight out on Monday it was cancelled because of the big snow storm in NYC. It was the sixth largest snow storm ever recorded. At least I was able to get my flight refunded and hitched a ride back to the city with Stephen since he was coming up anyways to visit for New Year's. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. (P.S. I have a lot of photos)

We started off the week with a wonderful

The next night was the annual cookie exchange YUM!

Brian and Elizabeth were beautiful hosts and had a great Christmas Party.
