ONE!

I can not believe you guys are one year old.  Mommy spent so much time planning your sunshine themed birthday party and the only time it rained all winter was on the day mommy had the party. We moved the party inside and it was still a success. Hadley was the center of attention, performing for all of our guests.  Hudson was a bit overwhelmed and retreated to his room to read books.  You guys devoured the big cupcakes mommy bought you. Your Nana, Papa, Aunt Lindsey and Uncle Andrew came all the way from Kentucky to celebrate with you.  You bring us so much joy and every day is a new adventure. Here are all things we want to remember about you being ONE!
Hudson

  • At 1 year old Hudson weighs 19.4 lbs and stands at 30 inches tall.
  • He has 8 teeth, 4 on top and 4 on the bottom.
  • He can clap, wave,  gives kisses and sign "all done", "milk" and "more".
  • He is learning his body parts and can point to his head, toes, nose and belly.
  • He says "Hi", "Momma", "Dadda" and "All done" along with babbling constantly.
  • He can stand without holding on and has taken one step but then immediately sits down.
  • He can cruise around all the furniture and has mastered pushing the walking toys.  He is so proud when he pushes his walker around the room.
  • He is still a picky eater and does not trust he will like the food we put in front of him.
  • His favorite foods are bread, pancakes, rolls, crackers, anything in a pouch, pasta, smoothies but most of all peas and carrots.
  • He loves to push anything that looks like a button.  Some of his favorites are the TV on/off button, daddy's belly button (which he thinks makes noise when he presses it) and the buttons on his books that make noises.
  • When he wakes up from naps he loves to give sweet cuddles for about 2 minutes.  This is one of my favorite parts of the day.
  • He was an extra regular little guy going 5 to 6 times daily until we found out he was lactose intolerant and now we have the situation under control.
  • His most common accessory is his bib as he continues to drool excessively.  We tend to go through an average of seven bibs everyday.
  • He is attached to mommy's hip in social situations or new environments.
  • He loves the dustbuster and gets so excited after each meal when it is clean up time.
  • He loves bath time but now he likes to stand up in the bathtub making things more difficult for mommy and daddy.
  • He loves music and all musical instruments.
  • His other favorite toys are stacking toys, shape sorters and blocks.
  • He loves to figure out how things go together and always wants to put things back where they belong. For example, some of his favorite activities include putting the tops back on jars or the toys back in bins.
  • He still likes to read books.  His three favorite books are Hooray for fish, B is for Bear, and Baby Beluga.

Hadley

  • At 1 year old Hadley weighs 19.8lbs and stands 29.5 inches tall.
  • She has 6 teeth, 4 on top and 2 on bottom.
  • She can clap, wave and sign "all done", "milk" and "more".
  • She knows the body parts better and knows nose, belly, ear, head and her favorite toe toes.
  • She says "Momma", "Dadda" "Yeah" and lots of babbling noises.
  • She loves to stand (holding on), dance and bounce.
  • She loves all food and will try anything. She especially likes tart foods, spicy foods and has an appetite like her mommy.
  • Her favorite foods are clementines, yogurt, cheese, strawberries, lasagna and macaroni and cheese.
  • She drinks only whole cow's milk but will only drink it if it is the right temperature (supper warm).
  • When she gets excited she kicks her feet back and forth.  Sometimes we fear she may start a fire with her crazy feet.
  • She knows how to get under our skin and does things just to make us aggravated.
  • She loves getting Hudson into trouble.  She will bait him into taking her toy by taunting him with it and cry hysterically once he takes it just to get him in trouble.  It worked frequently at the start but now we are onto her.
  • She loves Mini and Mickey Mouse (both the TV characters and the dolls).
  • We still call her our triple threat because she can sing, dance and act.  Several talent agencies are interested.   She practices her crying in the mirror in the car.  She can be completely serious but at an instance will adapt to the situation and put on a show for all strangers.
  • She also loves music.  She likes to shake shakers and play on the drums.  Her favorite songs are the mister sun song and the hot dog song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
  • She is a phenomenal sleeper and loves her crib.  She would sleep in every morning if Hudson did not wake her up.  However, she is a night owl and will play in her crib for about an hour after we put her to sleep.
  • When she gets really tired her jaw droops and it kind of looks like she had a stroke, the more tired the more severe the droop.
  • Her favorite books are from the series "Thats not my . . ."
  • She loves shoes.  Shoes are her favorite things.  She loves to chew on the straps and velcro.

Up Close
Our theme was sunshine since we live in Cali and except for this day it has hardly rained since we have lived here and it hasn't rained since this day either. Oh well we made due with it inside.  I did fun bright color and tried to keep it gender neutral.

This little sweet boy was a little overwhelmed by all the people and loud noise (it didn't help that we were in our small apartment) and he just wanted his lovie, binkie, and books in his room away from the party most of the time.
This silly girl was a social butterfly and loved all the extra attention and was having a blast with everyone
Hudson was excited about the cake though! They just wanted to take the "one" banners off of their chairs so not great pictures here.
Hadley didn't really like how sticky the icing was on her hands at first
 Hudson didn't mind
Happy 1st Birthday Hadley & Hudson!
